Picked up a HP25

Postby Bulldog1 » Sun Feb 03, 2019 4:29 pm

I just got a HP25 cheap winning bid was $7.00. It said it was non functional with a mag. So I picked it up and I could barely rack the slide. I took it home and started to take it apart. I discover that some super genius  had decided to take a black Hp25 and turn it into a chrome aluminum HP25 by using Rattle can paint. Now I myself have used Rattle can engine paint before and ended up with good results. But this super genius used a new time saving method that I had not thought of before. they skipped the disassembly part of the process and just pulled the grips and shot it with a heavy coat of paint. So after many hours of scrapping and cleaning it works again.

Glad you got going again. I've wanted a HP25 for awhile. Let us know how it shoots.

Good work. Got any pics?

I've never fully taken apart an HP22 or HP25. They're pretty complicated for SNS guns.

Oh My Gosh!!! Why would anyone spray paint their handgun??? It makes no sense to me. I guess you will soak it in paint remover and clear out the entire pistol of the paint. :o :o

It sounds like you got a real bargain, considering the "previous idiot owner" discount. It's always great to pick up something for cheap because it doesn't work, only to find that "doesn't work" is an easy fix.

Has anyone ran into this? I picked up a parts kit for my HP25A that included the barrel and slide for a HP25 no A . The slide fits fine but the barrel is cast like a HP22 there is no screw on block or hole for the bolt head that sticks up from the cross bar on the frame. All the rest of of the parts fit. When I get a chance I'll post pictures showing the difference.

I had this happen with the first 5" .25ACP range barrel kit I acquired. I had to drill a small hole to accommodate that bolt head.

My guess -and it's just my WAG- that the main purpose of that bolt it to prevent barrel swapping between calibers.
I might know someone who has done that. ;)

That "A" vs. plain HP-2x has always puzzled me, especially since I've heard of no sightings of a pistol without the "A". Does anyone know more about this? What were the changes? And has anyone ever seen a non-A in the wild?
