High Raven Arms Serial Numbers

Postby bumthum » Wed Mar 20, 2019 5:24 pm

I'm looking for some input from owners of Raven Arms made MP-25 pistols. I guess my main goal is to determine whether MP-25 serial numbers end below 2-million, or somewhere in the 2,000,000-2,999,999 range, and when certain features were present. I have gathered data from more than 50 Raven pistols so far and have yet to observe a Raven Arms pistol with a serial number above 2-million, or a Phoenix made Raven with a serial below 3-million. I've heard stories about people seeing, or knowing someone who has seen, Ravens of either make straying into that serial range, but I'm only really interested in hard information from pistols in their owner's possession with verifiable features.

So what I need from MP-25 owners is:
Serial # (preferably with all but the last 2 or 3 digits, if not complete)
Grip panel type (wood, pearl, black plastic with grooves, etc.)
Metal finish (black, polished chrome, brushed nickel, whatever)
Safety Style (second model slider, or rotating)

I'm going to post a similar thread in the Phoenix section for information about low Phoenix Raven serials. Thank you ahead of time for any information you can provide.

I like the idea of getting a list of s/n and finishes on Ravens.

This might be a real challenge when it comes to grips; they get swapped out a LOT.

My highest s/n Raven MP-25:
S/N: 18052xx
Grips: Black Plastic Grips (I changed them to wood)
Finish: Chrome
Safety: Rotating disk

The highest MP-25 serial number I've actually seen is currently 18674XX, that example was black with black plastic, ribbed grips - like those later used by Phoenix.

My Raven MP-25 chrome with wood grips. S/N is 201655. The safety is horizontal slide push forward to fire push to the rear for safety.

Taking a quick look at my data and it appears that your slide may be a replacement. My current serial number range for the earlier Industry made P-25 model runs from 92340 to 626827 and I have the MP-25 running from 711620 to 1867404. Of course I'm missing numbers in there, my data is only what I've actually seen or other owners have reported. Regardless, your serial should put your pistol in the P-25 range with a curved second model sliding safety.

This is the kind of production data that is really cool.
As bumthumb points out, the difficulty pinning down the minor changes on Ravens is grip, slide, and variations on sliding safeties.
It wasn't until just recently that I learned there was a second variation on Baldwin Park with the smaller sliding safety instead of the big button safety. I wouldn't believe it until I got one in my hands.

Keep it up, bumthumb!

No problem. Just for reference, this is what other pistols in your serial number range look like. You can see the curved safety in the close up. When I first noticed the design I thought it might have been a fairly rare early variation, but now my data is showing that it lasted as a feature into the 400,000s.
