Lots of RG's to choose from

Postby RF4guy » Tue Apr 15, 2014 12:00 pm

I check gunbroker fairly regularly. Not just for RG's, but for lotsof stuff. In any case, I noticed that some of the prices people are asking are way over-priced. I'm not a "gun snob" by any stretch of the imagination, but asking $300 for an RG .38 special in good condition is a little misguided...agreed? even LNIB might be a stretch.

Agreed completely. The prices on RG revolvers have gone well beyond the acceptable range. Three years ago you could get them for $75-$100 in like new condition, even with boxes in some cases. No way I'd pay the going rate for them because at $300, you're well into used Taurus range, which are steel guns with a transferrable warranty.

Prices for sns guns around here are still fairly reasonable. By no means will you get a good deal or bargain. Most RG's run right at $125 in gun shops. On armslist you can usually get them in at about $100.. The only issue is that most of the ones being sold on armslist are beat to hell... Loose lockup, cracked and chipped grip panel's, lots of surface rust... Even looked at one a few weeks ago that had a loose barrel. The guy still wanted $150 for it..

That illustrates my point exactly...banged up RG with rust and a loose barrel and the guy wants $150. An all steel Taurus South American police turn in sold yesterday for $135. lots of wear but mechanically sound.
