What RG10 parts are likely to fail?

Postby Flowmaster » Sat Nov 14, 2015 6:19 pm

A guy I know bought out an old gunsmith's inventory of parts. In there he's got a bunch of little plastic boxes with parts for SNS guns. He's willing to sell me some of them. What parts should I get to fix an RG10? Mine isn't broken, I just want to know what's likely to break. I'll only be picking up the parts that are likely to go. I'm thinking the loading gate and spring for the loading gate, the hammer/sear, and maybe some springs? Any advice is appreciated.

all of them.

seriously .... i think the grip screws hold up pretty well. if i were you i would just try to buy them all if you have a fondness for that SNS. i have one but dont shoot it. its a nice sample and works well but its Definitely not a high volume shooter even with colibri powder less plinking ammo. it a bit fragile and everything seems pretty soft.

not knocking you. i have a fondness for more than a few obscure and fragile guns and lots of parts to go with them. i think with SNS guns its a given to have at least one complete parts set for every version you own if you plan on shooting them. or just buy lots of them cheap and break them down for parts when they fail.

seems like sns revolvers are the worst to deal with for me which is why i tend to stick to semi autos. plus most of the semi autos have crossover parts which helps.

The front sight fell off on mine and the loading gate also fell off. Honestly the RG10 is pretty fragile.

Cheaper and better to buy a second or third SNS for a backup. In my experience they were made for easy and cheap manufacture ( ie lots of pins and springs ) trust me, they are a nightmare to work on.

You should be able to still score parts kits fairly cheap for these things. Heck in two years they will all be C&R so if you have your license you can just have junkers sent directly to your house.
