New Heritage

Postby Whiterook » Mon Oct 28, 2019 4:27 pm

Greetings again all. Just picked up a Rough Rider. Been wanting one for about 12 years and finally bought one. I have a Ruger Single Six but wouldn't this for the .22 Magnum capability and as a camp revolver.

I opted for the birdshead 3.75 option. I think it is great. Fit seems good, finish is decent. The wood grips are actually nice and the cylinders seem built like a tank.

Haven't shot it yet but my only question is regarding the cylinder pin and cylinder pin retaining pin. I havent handled many of these so my question is are they all kind of "loose"? What I mean by that is the cylinder pin can be moved out ever so slightly even when not depressing the retaining button. It doesn't change the lockup or function. The retaining button itself seems looser and more springy. Especially compared to my single six.

This normal on these?

Mine has the same slight movement. I think its the size of the notch cut in the cylinder pin.

Yup. Decided that isnt an issue. The .22lr cylinder however spits lead badly out the left side. Also makes it very inaccurate. The .22 magnum cylinder seems better but still very inconsistent. So far not impressed.

Yikes, that's no good at all. Do you think it's a sloppy bolt stop or maybe a cylinder that got cut out a little too much?
