Affordable long handled Q-tips

Postby adam01364 » Fri Feb 26, 2016 5:27 am

As my supply of long, wood handled Q-tips has dwindled, I've been searching for affordable replacements. Not having good luck with that, so being the cheapskate that I am, I made some using conventional short Q-tips and some coffee stir sticks. Coffee stir sticks aren't created equal; you'll need the thin ones. Cut the Q-tip in half and give it a crimp so it stays put and simply slide it into one of the ends of the stir stick.

good work around... Maybe a drop of Elmers glue would work better then the crimp...

Question??? Considering your frugal nature... did you purchase these stir sticks or appropriate them from a local establishment?

I recycled them after using to stir my coffee. Seriously. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is free at work, and I drink at lot of it. And once home, I use them over and over again with the Q tips.

Great tip! I currectly use plastic picks and Q Tips for detail work on my guns but sometimes standard Q Tips aren't long enough.
