I once went to an auction and watched a guy purchase a "stainless steel" Clerke First for $200.00.

Well, you'll be interested in reading this ad I found for a used J-22 on Buds Gun Shop:

"The Jennings J-22 is a blowback operated, striker fired semi-auto pistol, with a six round magazine, and is chambered in .22 LR. The Jennings J-22 was produced by the Jennings Corporation in California in the 1980s and 1990s. It was inexpensive and featured an aluminum alloy slide and frame. The latter models by Bryco were made of Zamak. Bryco Arms, Jennings' parent company, declared bankruptcy in 2003, and was subsequently purchased by the company's former foreman Paul Jimenez. After renaming the company Jimenez Arms, the J-22 was reintroduced as the JA-22."

JackJ,
I'll take David Vincent's statement over a Bud's ad anyday:
David Vincent wrote:I have a NIB j22 that was one of the first 150 produced and its all zamak. This is kind of like when people claim chrome or nickel zamak to be stainless steel. The only manufacturer I can recall with actual aluminum is Lorcin and early hipoints.

Adam, I agree, I was just showing an example of misinformation that I found online. FYI, the gun Buds was selling was a Jennings, but it was made by Bryco.

I agree, there were no aluminum J guns. They've been zamak since their birthday.

JackJ - sorry. I took you post the wrong way. Thought you were implying that Buds -as a large dealer- was an authority on the matter.

I once worked in a surplus store that sold Jennings .22 pistols...never heard they were made of aluminum...fwiw, I bought a Sterling .22 instead...at least twice the price!
