Thats a good price nowadays for a used Smith. Seems none go under 4 nowadays.

Model 10's are still out there at reasonable prices. From what I can tell most of the big lots of them nowadays are coming from jails and prisons. These guns spent most of their time in an armory or guard post and so tend to be in much better shape than the ex-LE guns. I think the agencies are selling them to make up for budget shortfalls, or getting sweet trades on bottom feeders. My local dealer says that Glock will often make an even swap of new pistols for used guns. They apparently still make money because they sell the used guns to distributors for more than it costs the Glock to produce new pistols. And they get to add more vassals to their kingdom.
