Model 59 Buffer in a J-9

Postby Bulldog1 » Thu Jun 07, 2018 12:00 pm

Does anyone know are has tried to use the buffer guide rod assemble out of a Model 59 in a Jennings-9 in place of the solid unit in the J-9? I am think that if it would work it prolong the life of the J/JA-9. If anyone knows or has tried please share your knowledge.
Thanks

That's an interesting concept... I don't see why it wouldn't... Do you have the parts to try it out, and does the 59 buffer fit?

Thanks for your reply. I do not have the parts yet, I was just checking if anyone had tried it before I buy them from Numrich. I do have the buffer assembly that is in my Model 48, but it is listed as a different part#. The one for the 48 is narrower but I can check to see if it fits indie the recoil spring without binding.

I tried it and while the 59 buffer fits in the J-9 just fine, once I reassembled the pistol I was unable to rack the slide.
I'll be curious to read how Jeff made out with his.

The buffer and spring of the 59 fits in the JA slide but the buffer is too long to allow the slide to retract far enough to engage the takedown button.
The JA assembly is too large to fit properly in the 59 slide.
The JA recoil spring is heavier guage wire and about 3/4" longer than the 59.
