j25

Postby Don » Tue Apr 25, 2017 12:22 pm

Just bought a used J25 on line. Was going to wait till Jimenez started production of the JA version and buy it through Jeff Chance but the price was good and shipping was free so I jumped at it. I already have a J22 and JA 22 so I'm familiar with the design. Are there any quirks unique to the Jennings 25 that I need to know about or are they similar enough to the others I own I shouldn't worry?

Thanks,

Don

The thing that'll really throw you off is that its just slightly larger. I mean you can look at them both and not really tell a difference but when you hold them there's definitely more to the 25acp guns.

What Flow said. They look identical, but they're not.

Glad you found one. Jimenez isn't currently producing them as their main focus has been on the JA-Nine and target versions. :(

Jeff, I would have preferred to give you my business but as you said the Jimenez models aren't in production right now. The price on the Jennings was pretty good and the seller wasn't charging shipping so I couldn't pass it up.

I appreciate the loyalty but I also understand economics and supply.
Main thing is you got what you were looking for and are pleased with what you got. That's a win-win in my book.

The J25 came and needed a little TLC. The magazine was crap but I found a new one on line. I also bought a new recoil and striker spring. The cam pin was loose and kept backing out causing the trigger mechanism from engaging properly. I fixed that with a little blue lock tite and crazy glue. Gun shoots well with cci blaser ammo, shoots ok with American Eagle but it hates Remington ammo. My Ravens aren't finicky so the Remingtons will be Raven fodder. Love turning these sow's ears into silk purses.

J25 is one of the best and most overlooked SNS guns. I would say they run second only to ravens. Much more durable than sundances and makes lorcins l25s look like a sedco. Honestly its probably the best gun jennings ever made. They reliability of a raven in a j22 package. Not quite as streamlined as a J22 but still small, flat, and rounded with enough grip to get a good purchase. i never understood why they are not more popular. Only thing raven really beats it at is accuracy and slightly more durability. ravens are zamak 25acp tanks. Kind of like the ruger p89 of sns 25s.
