How rare is the C9 Comp?

Postby Flowmaster » Sun Jul 29, 2018 6:04 pm

I saw a C9 with compensator at the gun show over the weekend. I didn't buy it, I just want to know how rare they really are. It was pretty beat up, along with the 10 or so other used Hi-Point pistols the dealer had. The guy is known for buying out policed department evidence lockers.

I wouldn't say the C9 comp is overly rare, but here's the thing: it doesn't appear that Hi-Point is making them anymore. I probably would've picked it up if it was cheap enough.

The guy had 2 of them for $125 each plus 6% tax and $2 for the background check. So that would've been $134.50 out the door said and done. Looking back, I feel like I should have bought one because they are pretty hard to find. On the other hand, brand new non-comp C9s were $155 plus tax and $2 so those were going for $166.30 out the door. I bought a pound of powder at the show and that's it.

You still should have bought at least one: comps sell for a premium and their condition doesn't matter: Mom will recondition them at no charge. (Wish I'd been there, as I've been looking for one for years. Not for the compensator, but for the extended barrel with which naughtiness might be commited.) ;)
