C9 Rail

Postby Stik » Sat Feb 04, 2017 8:31 am

Wasn't sure if I should have put this here or in the DIY forum. Anyway, here's my new 3D printed C9 rail. It printed pretty easy and wasn't difficult to fit and I think it's a neat addition to the C9. Now I'll have to see how well it holds up. The file is available at Thingiverse.com for anyone interested.

That's cool. Can you still see the serial number?

It's held on by two small screws and is easy enough to remove. It is my UNDERSTANDING that this is okay since it's not permanently covering the SN. Is my understanding of this incorrect?

From what I've read it's a no-no to remove, obliterate, deface, or alter a SN. The many aftermarket products that merely cover a SN are legal.

Correct, perfectly legal. Not a problem at all, the S/N is not obliterated, defaced, or removed. My Pachmayr grips cover up the serial number on my Browning High Power. Worry not, Stik!

Hmmm... It seems like someone posted a file that allows for a change of the rear sight. I may have to print one of those. Before too long the C9 will be more 3D print than Hi-Point.

You'd be the coolest guy ever if you 3D printed us some thumb rest target grips for a Hi Point.

I'm still waiting to get access to a 3D scanner. I would think scanning a grip and adding a thumb rest would be fairly easy.
