I'm not super dooper blooper impressed... I Mean I'll buy one. But I hoped it would be something else. Really didn't want them to have a Zamac slide.

I think I want one as well. I've already decided to rummage through the safe and see what I can live without.

I agree with you; I expected more... a lot more. This is a C9 that's been "factory tweaked" to incorporate a couple of mods people have already been making to the gun, while adding other wish list items from C9 owners.
-Magazine: Hi-Point pistols -from the C9 and up- have more than enough room in the magwell to fit a double-stack mag. The restriction has always been the receiver. The solution mentioned repeatedly on the Hi-Point forum was to use a Makarov style 10 round mag. Oh, lookie... it's a Makarov style mag.
-Rail at the front on the gun: Notice the slide has been cut back a tad to allow access to the rail. Um, guess what? That mod's already been done by a number of guys over on the HPFF; posters expressed concern about reducing slide mass. Guess that's not a problem.
-Threaded barrel: That's simply a C9 comp barrel that's been threaded.

But I still want one. If nothing else to do a side-by-side comparison of what parts are interchangeable. :P

Of course it's big. Of course the slide is Zamak.

And -- of course -- they weren't going to introduce a compact pistol in competition with KelTec or Sccy. Hipoint makes blowback pistols, firearms that rely on a heavy slide rather than some locking variant. Accepting that, I'm excited, though one of my questions is unanswered so far: what does the grip safety do? If it implements a real firing pin block for one-in-the-pipe carry safety, I love it. If it's a variant on the old drop safety's sear block (which I suspect), I'm not so much in love.

That said, the increased mag capacity, the rear sight, the threaded barrel, the grip safety (yeah, whatever that may be), and the ambidextrous controls (not important to me but I appreciate the greater market attraction) make this a winner for $200. I'll order one as soon as availability is announced.
