Erma RX22

Postby nwmousegunner » Tue Feb 27, 2018 6:16 pm

I have recently found an Erma RX22 on Gun Broker That was described as a PPK clone. In further searching I found two more also described as PPK cones. I was under the impression that the Erma RX22 and the Iver Johnson TP22 were the same gun. My TP22 is smaller than My Interarms PPK, but is close to my TPH in size. The difference between the TPH and the TP22 is in the thickness of the frame and slide which would be expected as you know the IJ is zamak and the IA TPH is stainless steel. I would be interested in the Erma if it is a clone of the PPK as stated. I don't want one if it is the same as IJ TP22. I would like a PPK in .22 lr, but would settle for a zamak clone because of the cost difference. I am sure some of you out there have an Erma RX22 and can tell me whether it is the same as the Iver Johnson TP22. Thanks Dave

I had read that both guns were made by Erma. My question is are the RX22 and the TP22 the exact same gun or is the RX22 larger. I think they are the same gun and I think the comparison to a Walther PPK is made by people who don't have a PPK to compare to. I thought on this forum dedicated to zamak handguns some one would have both the Erma and the Iver Johnson and could confirm that they are the same. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Dave

I believe the RX22 and the TP22 are indeed the same gun, and I agree with your thinking the comparison to a Walther PPK is made by folks who don't have a PPK to compare to.

A little more info from Rimfire Central: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/sh ... light=TP22
The TP22 was produced by Erma, in Germany. Erma sold its version of the gun. Iver Johnson sold it as the "TP22". Excam sold it as the "Erma Excam RX22". I thnk that American Arms also sold a version called the "CX-22", and a variation called the "PX-22". I believe that a number of them were totally made in Germany, while, later, many were assembled in the U.S.A., with German slide & American-cast receivers. The makeup of the guns is steel slide & parts, with aluminum alloy / ZAMAC alloy receivers. Many, on this forum, have some version of this gun, and they love them.

I sold an RX22 to a member here back in November. I have pics of it but no way to post them here yet.
Still haven't found a photobucket replacement

I've got a slide to an American Arms. It's a twin to my Iver Johnson TP-22
Left side of the slide is stamped "AMERICAN ARMS, INC. - N.K.C. - MO" on the top line; followed by "PX Cal. .22 l.r." on the second line.
Right side of the slide is stamped "DESIGN BY ERMA WERKE" in smaller letters.
