Possibly a Sedco with a J22 slide?

Postby Flowmaster » Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:07 pm

I just saw this cruising around on gunbroker. It looks like someone had a Sedco and put a Jennings J22 slide on it.

Up to $11 as of this morning. When you add $30 shipping, plus whatever FFL fees at your end - could end up being an expensive Sedco.

Interesting to see that someone tried to put J-22 parts on the Sedco frame.

While the Sedco SP-22 looks like a copy of a Jennings J-22, when it comes to parts, practically nothing interchanges between the two pistols.
For example, J-22 mags fit and lock into a SP-22, but not the other way around (!) And as we see in the auction photograph, the J-22 slide fits the SP-22 after a fashion, but not the other way around. The safety design is completely different; the steel pins used are different diameters; the take-down buttons, firing pins, trigger bars, grips, and ejectors are all different.

Good eye. Sedco slides and other parts show up more regularly than frames, so if you really REALLY want a piece of SNS history, this still might be a sorta affordable intro. If the right parts show up. If.

This is a really great example of where "really want" and "Sedco" should be polar opposites. (They weren't in my case, but I got lucky.)

I considered going for it, but it sold for $52 ($22 plus $30 shipping) and then if you add on the $25 FFL fee at my end it was more than I was willing to pony up for it. Oh, yeah... I do happen to have an entire parts kit for a Sedco -just in case. ;)

I got mine for about $150 NIB. But then all Sedcos are NIB, having never been successfully fired.
