Talk me out of buying an FIE Guardian

Postby Flowmaster » Sat Dec 08, 2018 4:55 pm

I see FIE Titans and Titan Corp guns kind of frequently along with the EIG and GT27 guns, but I never see the FIE Guardian.

There is one for sale on gunbroker for $75 plus $35 shipping, so that works out to $110. I get free transfers so there is no added cost there. It seems kind of steep for me to pay that much for a chrome SNS gun, but I've never seen one in person.

Are they really that rare or is it just maybe the area in which I live? I like the looks of it and I'm tempted. Talk me out of buying it.

FWIW, I've never seen one here in the PNW. Yeah, I can see why it looks tempting; good luck, whatever your decision.

Flow, we only enable here. LOL

Seems a bit on the pricey side, but my motto is when you see 'em ya gotta grab 'em.

These are Galesi pistols, they are a PITA to totally disassemble /reassemble; it can be done with three six fingered hands. But they are pretty solid little guns.
You may recall I rebuilt one of these from parts. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1755&p=28080&hilit=Guardian#p28080

I've seen these as Florida Firearms, Dickson Detectives, FIE Guardians, and just Guardians. Sometimes they'll also have Galesi markings and Italian proofmarks.

Flow, I've got a Valor Import Corp marked "CDM" I could be persuaded to part with.

So I'm not alone. Not only do they have a zillion parts, but once the pistol is disassembled, it's like all the parts are from different firearms and won't fit back together. :D

I took apart a Galesi 25acp once and it wasn't fun to get back together. Later, someone on this forum needed help with one and I think I walked him through it somehow. Email or phone call? It was years ago. Yeah, don't take those guns all the way apart. I won't, at least recreationally.

I like your CDM import. I have a CDM import revolver of some kind in my collection.

I learned a lot when I started to look for the parts to rebuild my FIE Guardian. You could amass a huge collection of just Galesi variants.
